on my way

It is about I hit the mountains… for sanity (or what’s left of it) and to get out of Sydney for a day or two.

#Project2016 is the Everest base camp trek (#EBCTrek2016) in the beautiful Himalayas of Nepal. It’s gonna be epic!

Will be starting the trek in Lukla – that’s the infamous airstrip that’s at an angle and ends in a concrete wall 😉 all this at 2,800m. And it’s all uphill from there. Goal is obviously the base camp site (5,364m) for Everest expeditions, which however should be empty, climbing season is late spring (May usually). – And no, I have no ambitions (love life too much for now).

The actual goal is going to be a peak called Kala Patthar, which is sideways from EBC. Kala Patthar offers amazing views (and apparently an awefully cold sunrise) of Everest whilst from EBC you can’t actually see the big boy.

Kala Patthar is at 5,545m … and there are indications it might be a tad fresh (this is where my body fat will really come in handy) and some say the air might be thin. Well I say: only one way to find out.

I’m gonna hit the Lotto
I’m gonna place my bet on every step I take
go tell everyone under the sun
I’m on my way

And if I hit rock bottom
I’m gonna smile and dance with every step I take
go tell everyone under the sun
I’m on my way
On my way!

If you don’t hear from me, internet might be scarce in the mountains and I am flying Malaysia Airlines, so go looking in the Indian Ocean…

In the meantime, I shall leave you with Emmo’s awesome video. Enjoy

go tell everyone under the sun, I’m on my way
